My family has been playing Wildcraft for years. This is such a fun game that teaches you about herbs for food and medicine.
It’s an adventure game. The kids are out on a walk to collect huckleberries so that Grandma can make a delicious pie. But, they have to hurry because once the sun goes down, NO PIE! And,the game ends.
One of the things I like about this game is it uses common herbs and ailments that can easily apply to anyone on any given day. The cards have great illustrations to help you identify 25 plants. The hurt cards guide you to selecting the appropriate plant card to play with that ailment. It’s so cool, and a great learning game for kids.
Wildcraft also teaches teamwork and cooperation. There are many chances to help the other players relocate to a better space on the board, or help heal a sick friend if they don’t have the right cards to play. It’s cool seeing all my kids jump at once to help each other out.
There is a story included with the game. When I purchased this game many years ago you had to downloaded it. I think I did, but never printed them out. Nonetheless, we don’t need it. We have a blast using our imagination while making up our own stories that are different and fun each and every time.
Wildcraft just came out with a new edition to the game that includes more details on how to apply the 25 common herbs. I am not sure what else is different. But, I am sure that it is a very awesome game that even my 5 year old can play. (He didn’t sit for any pictures, but he did sneak a hand in.)
This is a very unique game. Give it a whirl. And let me know what you think. If you would, please use the links provided in this post to help me earn on qualifying purchases from Amazon. Thanks guys!
